Anna and Colin reached out to me back in December about a Yosemite engagement session. They’re originally from the Midwest but made the move to LA 3 years ago. They’re getting married back in the Midwest, but they love Yosemite and want it to be a part of their day!
Anna and Colin love the outdoors and one of their favorite activities is driving up to Yosemite with their pup and “camping/hiking/generally unplugging.” When they aren’t in Yosemite, you can find them sharing a great bottle of wine, cooking a meal, or hiking in the LA area!
The idea behind a Yosemite engagement session was to bring the colors and general vibe of Yosemite into some pictures. Their way of bringing a piece of California with them when they get married! Yosemite is so important to them because they’ve been going there multiple times a year since moving to California. The whole weekend revolved around the photoshoot and they went camping after!
When I spoke with Anna on the phone, she told me she wanted more landscape style photos. We decided on Taft Point and the meadows with half dome and the falls in the background. I threw out the idea of some star photos at Taft Point and they were game!!
We ended up starting the day in Ahwahnee Meadow and getting some epic shots in the valley and with half dome in the background. And check out Yosemite Falls!! After that, we headed to Foresta. If you drive down on 120 (I’d write “the 120” but you’d quickly realize I grew up in “so cal”) – you’ll notice two barns in the valley to your right. That’s Foresta and it’s a rad place! I’m stoked Anna and Colin were game to explore with me during their full-day engagement adventure. We got some views pretty much no other visitors to Yosemite ever get!
To end the day, we hiked to Taft Point and opened a bottle of champagne. Once it got dark enough, we took some epic star photos! I had a blast with Anna and Colin and I’m glad we got some of the classic views and also got to explore a little bit! Such a rad day!
